About the UN Global Compact
The UN has an initiative called the Global Compact. It was launched in 2000 by then UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.
Its main objective is to encourage companies around the world to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies, aligning their operations and strategies with ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and the fight against corruption.
At the end of this article, we will list the main aspects of the Global Compact for further reading, as well as the SDGs, the Sustainable Development Goals.
The UN Global Compact in Brazil
In Brazil, the UN Global Compact was created in 2003 and today it is the second largest local network in the world, with more than 1,900 participants. The more than 50 projects carried out in the country mainly cover the following themes:
- Water and Sanitation,
- Food and Agriculture,
- Energy and Climate,
- Human Rights and Work,
- Anti-corruption,
- Engagement and Communication.
Participants in the Global Compact also commit to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are part of the UN’s 2030 Agenda. Adopted in 2015, these goals are a global call to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all.
The Challenge: Mobilizing and engaging the business community in Brazil
The purpose of the Global Compact in Brazil is to mobilize the business community to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
One of the fronts for this mobilization are the actions launched by the UN Global Compact Brazil Network. One of them took place in May 2019, which was the first Global Compact Brazil Network SDG Award.
It was a four-day event and the Global Compact Brazil Network needed to maximize the reach and engagement of the Awards Event.
The Solution: Event Broadcasting with Multiplication Technology
The event would be broadcast live over four days only on the Global Compact’s social networks.
To increase the reach of these broadcasts, some of the companies taking part in the event were invited to also broadcast the event on their respective networks simultaneously. This was only possible thanks to MultiplierApp’s multiplication technology.
A MultiplierApp is a multistreaming platform that allows you to connect several profiles from different social networks to share content, through lives and reels, simultaneously to an unlimited number of accounts, pages and channels.
And that’s what happened! The event was broadcast live on social media, bringing the message to a much wider audience.
The Result: The reach and engagement exceeded the expectations of the objective
- 1.5 million live viewers
- 130 social networks broadcasting simultaneously
- 7 million total views
- 6,900 interactions generated
With MultiplierApp, the Global Compact Brazil Network not only increased its reach, but also boosted engagement, showing the power of technology in social impact actions.
The success of the event reinforces the importance of the Global Compact in Brazil and its mission to promote a more sustainable and just world.
